Scoopwhoop | The Voting Cursor

Brief

The world’s largest democracy has close to 900 million registered voters. But even today nearly 300 million voters are not voting. Scoopwhoop - India’s leading content platform wanted to leverage its reach to get more people voting for the 2019 general elections. But how do you do it in a way that breaks through the clutter?

Solution

The inked index finger is synonymous with voting. But when seen from a digital lens it looked like a mouse cursor’s hand avatar. We modded this cursor by inking its index finger with 8 black pixels and adding ‘Go Vote’! Giving rise to the Voting Cursor - the world’s smallest digital display and public service announcement at 32x32 pixels.

Implementation

The Voting Cursor was implemented on scoopwhoop.com encouraging millions of visitors to vote. It was also made available as a downloadable file so organizations/people could install it on their systems reminding them of their duty to the nation.

Result

Approx 4 million visitors to Scoopwhoop saw the Voting Cursor.

Close to 18500 downloads of the cursor file.
